Residents, advocates to host 'Medicaid Under Threat' info session
Community members are invited to attend a Medicaid information session at the Washington Center’s Senior Activity Room in New London on Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m.. This grassroots event aims to raise awareness about Medicaid and what cuts will mean to local individuals, for recipients to share their stories, and to compile a comprehensive list of local resources in our community.
As part of this session, we will focus on several significant issues, including:
- Proposed cuts to Medicaid that threaten the health and well-being of vulnerable populations, especially our local community
- Sharing details about how Medicaid functions, who it serves, and what will happen if funding goes away
- Compiling a list of local resources for residents to use so that they can have their needs met should the program be dissolved.
“We’re really worried about what cuts to Medicaid will do to folks living in New London and the surrounding area,” said Emily Tseffos, leader of Fox Valley Indivisible. “That’s why we’re gathering as a community to answer questions and set up a network to take care of one another.”
The information session is nonpartisan and will feature policy experts and local Medicaid recipients and caregivers who will offer personal stories and insights about how Medicaid impacts families and individuals across Wisconsin.
Local lawmakers and community members are encouraged to attend.
