Kimberly HS to perform 'HADESTOWN: Teen Edition'

The Arts are alive and well at Kimberly High School!  Audiences throughout the Fox Valley and Northeast Wisconsin will soon be able to enjoy an outstanding and thought-provoking performance of Hadestown: Teen Edition under the direction of Todd Wegner.

Hadestown is a Tony- and Grammy-award winning show still playing on Broadway.  It is a high energy, modern musical retelling the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. It explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the tension between hope and despair. It takes the audience on a “hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.”  The folk/jazz score was written by Anais Mitchell.

Hadestown: Teen Edition was just recently released for high school performance.  Wegner says, “I’ve been a fan of the show since I saw it a few years ago, so when the rights became available for the teen edition we applied immediately.”  The cast has been rehearsing since mid-December and is currently averaging about 20-25 hours a week.

Todd Wegner has built an impressive legacy at Kimberly High School with his 21 years of leadership as theater director.  The range of productions he's directed – from Urinetown and Jesus Christ Superstar to Les Misérables and last year’s SIX the Musical: Teen Edition – shows his dedication to not only bringing diverse and dynamic shows to the stage but also challenging his students with cutting-edge theater.

Hadestown: Teen Edition is sure to be an amazing show at Kimberly High School. With performances running from March 14 through 22, it’s definitely something to put on your calendar. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. They are available online at www.kimberlytheatre. com, or, if available, at the door starting 45 minutes before every performance.

To the cast, crew and Director Wegner, “Break a Leg!”
