Fighting Hunger in Eastern Wisconsin: How You Can Help Feed Families in Need
There are nearly half a million Wisconsinites, including many children, who face hunger every day. Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state and Appleton is fortunate to be one of the two plants in the area. It offers food relief to rural, suburban and urban locations in 35 eastern Wisconsin counties.
The work at Feeding America relies on volunteers to repackage and sort donated food items, much of which comes from local grocery stores and food production plants. These items are sent to various food banks in eastern Wisconsin where they are distributed to those in need.
You can join this important local organization by volunteering your time. Three-hour shifts are available Monday through Friday. No special skills – just a willing heart to help – are required.
I have been a volunteer for about four years. I’ve met some amazing people. It’s easy. It’s fun. And it’s doing good work. Each time I leave the plant I’m happier than when I walked in. What a gift.
